Spirit Mountain awards grant to KindTree’s STiLE

KindTree Productions, Inc. announces a grant awarded by Spirit Mountain Community Foundation in the amount of $12,000 for STiLE’s “Learning for Success” project.

This project will expand STiLE Trainings (small group instructional skill trainings) to youth on the autism spectrum and others with developmental disabilities ages 14-21.

Submitted by KindTree VP and STiLE Program Coordinator Molly Elliott along with Administrative Manager Stephanie Dahl, this major award is designed to help youth experience increased levels of competency, connection to others and their community, work readiness skills, life satisfaction, social skills, resiliency, independence and self-sufficiency.

Training principles include creating safe and welcoming learning environments, providing respectful accommodations, encouraging healthy responsible relationships, providing systematic outcome based instruction, and using person-centered principles and a strength based approach.

The Grant will allow KindTree to:

  1. Recruit 18 – 20 youth

  2. Offer 4-5 new trainings

  3. Develop new partnerships with 3-4 business and organizations

  4. Hire and train 3 new qualified instructors

  5. Recruit 5 new volunteers

  6. Plan, develop and implement trainings with input from key stakeholders including youth, parents, school personnel, service coordinators and STiLE instructors

  7. Develop and maintain working relationships with parents, teachers, job developers, service coordinators and PA’s.

Possible activities/trainings may include summer camp, creative expression (dance, painting, IMPROV, jewelry making, photography, film making, creative writing) time management, fitness (adaptive bike riding, hiking) and more.

The grant runs from April 1, 2019 – March 31, 2020.
