I am Sophie Doleman, a 16-year-old high school student at Pleasant Hill High School in Oregon. I was diagnosed with HFA/Asperger’s Syndrome two years ago when I first moved to the Eugene area. Art is my comfort zone. It’s a friend that understands me and “gets” me unlike others. It makes sense and challenges me in a safe and satisfying way. I hope it brings joy to others when I complete the challenge and make art. I like being on the “art spectrum.” (1998).
My favorite medium is digital art, in which I draw using an Intuos 4 and Cintiq Companion pen tablet, and my brushstrokes are transferred to Photoshop and Paint Tool SAI. I also enjoy many other media, including acrylic, pencil, pen, Copic marker, watercolor, pastel, and even some clay. I love exploring new ways to make art, and I take classes at Lane Community College to learn everything I can about the different media. I aspire to be a concept artist, graphic designer, animator, or perhaps an illustrator.
