Kim Miller

is a freshman in college. "I create art to be united with my unique culture. Through my autism, I am influenced by the information I gather with my senses. Art comes naturally to me, like breathing. I inhale what I see, hear, feel... and exhale its beauty."
Kim is a recipient of a KindTree cash grant to help her create her art.

Suzie Noel Duncan  

Suzie is a happy, delightful 7 year old (2007). He art is inspired by Veggie Tales and Strawberry Shortcake. The more she draws, her own personality and style are coming forth. Her art has recently been entered in two shows, is sold at Holiday Bazaars, and is in the Unity of Beaverton Bookstore. Hunter McBride

Hunter McBride is 7 years old and lives with PDD-NOS. He has been drawing since he was 4. If left to his own devices, he would draw morning, noon and night. He captures the world around him in a different light. While his expressive speech is poor, just give him a pen and it unlocks the door. He is fascinated with detail and movement, nature ands sounds. Hunter is a creative boy to have around!

Zsofika Wigney

washington state didnt recognize autism until 1999 but i went though school in the 1980s
i didnt understand or comprehend numbers at all: disgrpahic
i would spend my days under my desk making sounds and  rapidly shaking my fings and hands
i never completed a grade beyond 7th
and the ones  i did complete were  taylored to my ability

Feeling attached to the earth as a human being and pleasing others are unattainable goals without my art.

 

 

 

i began to read books alone in my room for the next years readining and studying phisophy and history and critical theroy etc
i wrote and befreded teachers at  colleges who invited me to come and  learn in their callses even though i could nto officialy do it
i auditied classes at tcc and evergreen and in polan and  paris from teachers impressed with my knowldge of  phislophy and history and critical theroy i left and tried my hadn at film making

Kwame Minta

lives at home with his Mom, takes a weaving class at Lane Community College, and a painting class at the Hilyard Community Center. Kwame loves to travel; by air, sea, train, any mode of transportation will do. His goal is to live on his own someday.

"My name is Lexi. I am 11 y/o (2007). I am in 6th grade. I like fashion and kicking my 'Da Cheat'. My favorite things are drawing, computer and comic art. I like writing fiction stories and creating my own comic books. I always wanted to make my own books. I enjoy movies like TMNT, the Last Mimzy and The Night before Christmas.

Alex Way is a thirteen year old boy who experiences the gifts of high intelligence, humor and creativity as well as the challenges of high functioning autism, OCD, phobias, nonverbal learning disorder, and eating disorders. He enjoys science, computers, and Tae Kwon Do, and has won many awards.

Jody John Ramey

is a dancer/choreographer with interests in a wide variety of artistic genres (dancing, music, painting, etc.). It is his belief that the individual genre will eventually blur together, making it harder to separate them into distinct categories. He is also working on a book, Autistics Guide to Dating/Courting, with his wife, Emilia Murry Ramey. This will probably be released through Jessica Kingsley Publishers in 2008.

Mary-Minn Sirag

Mary-Minn Sirag teaches marketable art to adults with multiple disabilities, including autism, through City of Eugene’s Parks and Recreation Department. As a peer mentor, she is an inspiration to people with disabilities.
