VOLUNTEER
OPPORTUNITIES
the PROM
This is our annual event, a Prom for adults, a chance to be a little over the top and dance your bottom off. Volunteers will help decorate, arrange silent auction items, take pictures, etc. Please contact Eileen Brixey at erbrixey@gmail.com to help. WE NEED YOU!! More about the event here...
Some of our projects are already underway. If you have time and energy, this is a great opportunity to create something special. Please respond to tim@kindtree.org. Thank you.
We're organizing Life Skill Groups for folks on the spectrum and will be needing class assistants. This is a great opprtunity to get some one-on-one time with folks who need you. Start date projected for early 2013.

The Camp/Retreat
is designed around the needs of those living with autism.
Parents and caregivers can bring their autistic loved
ones and relax with them over the weekend, knowing that
they are in a safe and nurturing environment. The retreat
is a time for rejuvenation and solidarity. Autists are
accepted and enjoyed for themselves, not forced into a
procrustean neuro-normal mold.
Volunteering at this event is like
being with family. There's plenty of work to do,
but there is always someone to chat with and enjoy while
you're working. Tasks include plenty of kitchen duty,
leading nature walks, helping with games and crafts, keeping
a good vibe going, and looking after people. It's a wondeful
chance to experience the Autism Community and learn. We
need about 70 volunteers for Thursday - Sunday the last
weekend in August.

Our Art Program
offers art works created by people who have autism spectrum disorders.
We proudly participate in Eugene's exciting "Holiday Market"
event every Thanksgiving Day Weekend, offering for sale cards,
prints and a wide variety of original art produced by people with
autism. This event creates income for the artists and lets everyone
know who they are.
We celebrate our artists with a gala opening, giving neuro-normal
people a chance to rub elbows with some notable autists, and autists
palpable proof of their self-worth and a market for their art.
Volunteers help here by staffing
the sales booth during events, helping market items at local stores,
coordinating framing and scheduling exhibitions, working with
artists and more.
Our Book
Review Page needs a steady stream of new reviews.
Please let us know if you have read a good
book lately! books@kindtree.org
In addition, volunteers help at our other events
and fun-raisers setting up, working refreshments and more. We
could use help with the website and graphic
work. We hope to reach out to artists in the schools, with your
help. Other opportunities often arise.
Join our Board of Directors or Advisory
Board. If you are a professional, or have unique skills
or resources to offer (autism specialist,
business person, grant writer...), we would love your input
and creativity in our effort to serve the Autism Community. Board
positions are often open. Terms are for 2 years and meetings occur
monthly for board members, and twice yearly for the Advisory Board.
Please contact Volunteer Coordinator,

We know how to have fun.
Thanks.
